TIL residency
TIL stands for Today I Learned. it is commonly used on social media to introduce something interesting and unexpected. we started our international residency in 2024. it is imagined for artists, non artists, curators, educators, thinkers, writers, researchers, musicians, dancers and other creative practitioners.
the residency was established to provide artists and creatives with a space for calm concentration and creativity. there are no certain rules, form or residency and necessary support is discussed individually.

premises of the residency is located in a historic building in the picturesque town of Valdemarpils in Western Latvia. The house was built circa 1850 and retains many of its original features, such as the mantel chimney.

TIL is the perfect place for those seeking inspiration, collaboration, and mindful tranquility. situated in the charming Latvian landscapes, surrounded by century-old trees, serene lakes and lush fields, residency offers a distinctive experience that combines artistic exploration with the rich cultural heritage of the region. Valdemarpils town centre is within walking distance; residents can also use bikes provided by TIL to explore the surroundings.
residency consists of two buildings surrounded by a garden of flowers, apple and pear trees, and berry bushes. the first building’s ground floor features a communal hall, a large kitchen, a library and three spaces for work and/or public events if needed. The other building has eight separate bedrooms, four bathrooms, three spaces for work. residency also has Latvian sauna and nearby lake.
